 Functions Minimize

   List of Functions:

Training Methods:

Following Time
EasyDriver® displays the present Following Time as a number and the Following Time History in a strip chart. Instructors select a Following Time 'Rule" value or an innovative Following 'Rule' option, and combinations of 6 different Threat Events.

Simulate
EasyDriver® displays the Time To Collision as a number and the shows the Time History in a strip chart; shows relative risk in a 2-Zone Incremental Warning display; overrides simulated leading vehicle braking force when the true lead deceleration is greater. Instructors select combinations of 6 different Threat Events; select Reaction Time; conduct Reaction Test(s) using either an On Road Braking or Eye-Hand method; select expected lead and student Braking Forces; implement special options, e.g. 'Rush-Hour' mode.

Threat Events
EasyDriver® shows a 2-Zone Incremental Warning display responding to the student's position within the crash envelop. Instructors select combinations of Threat Events that affect when the trainer provides warnings. Time penalties are added due to Road Condition, Visibility, Traffic Density, Traffic Braking, Type of Leading Vehicle, and Weight of Trainer.

Limit Alarms
EasyDriver® shows a 2-Zone Incremental Warning display responding to the student's Following Time with the selected Following 'Rule'. Instructors set a Fixed Speed limit and observe actual speed; set a Fixed Distance limit and observe actual distance; set the following "Rule" and observe actual Following Time.

Pacing
EasyDriver® displays Following Time and Trainer Speed as two large formatted numbers; shows a 2-Zone Incremental Warning display responding to the actual Following Time. Instructors select the Following 'Rule' and special options. Speech feedback is limited to Lead Vehicle Slowing and headway alarms within the imminent crash zone. Emergency Vehicle Edition only

Performance Displays:

Crash Threat
EasyDriver® highlights and enlarges labels that indicate the conditions of Lead Vehicle Slowing, Cutting-In-Front, In-Path Warning (Lead Vehicle Stopped), and Normal/Cautionary following; shows a 2-Zone Incremental Warning display that responds to the student's currentposition within the crash envelop.

Lead Motion
EasyDriver® enlarges a rear view graphic of a Leading Vehicle to indicate Cautionary Following; displays the actual Following Time as a large number; produces Status Labels that Indicate Slowing, Cutting-In-Front, and In-Path (Lead Vehicle Stopped) Motion; shows a 2-Zone Incremental Warning display that responds to the student's current position within the crash envelop.

Report Card
EasyDriver® displays the number of minutes in each type of risk, e.g. Following Time Exceeded, Lead Vehicle Slowing, etc., the total overall Percent Time at Risk, and the total Time Tracking; shows a 2-Zone Incremental Warning display that responds to the student's current position within the crash envelop. Instructors review the performance with the student. Results may be later retrieved from the internal database.

Measures
EasyDriver® shows the respective Trainer and Leading Vehicle Speeds, the actual measured Distance, respective Trainer and Leading Vehicle Stopping Times and Distances; shows a 2-Zone Incremental Warning display that responds to the student's current position within the crash envelop.

Settings & Information:

Settings
Instructors select the Maximum Distance the laser will track a vehicle, the Distance Between Laser and front Bumper for accurate measurement referenced from the front bumper, various Crash Warning Alarms, the frequency of Speech Feedback Level, and the Time and/or Speed for the Trainer to Begin Tracking After Stop.
